Hey guys! I’m back! Yes, I’m actually blogging after a good few months away. I know, I know, I’m a bad blogger. I’ll get into why I’ve taken a break in another post as it could be a long one. But the short version is basically this: my mental health hasn’t been the best recently and I haven’t been in the right frame of mind to sit down and type blog posts. Truth be told, I lost all passion and motivation. I’ve barely managed to keep on top of my social media feeds of late, let alone anything else. The whole thins has been making me seriously stressed all of a sudden and it’s something I’m currently trying to get under control. A blogging mid-life crisis if you will.
I’m determined to get back on it starting from now and get that passion for writing back. I’ve just got myself a new laptop (only went a spilt a pint of water on my previous one – school boy error!), shot some new blog imagery and am feeling inspired. If there’s anything specific you’d like me to write about, please let me know in the comments section or tweet / DM me! Anyway, what better way to get back to it than sharing some of my current faves. I’m always getting asked what I use and what my fave beauty items are via Instagram, so I hope you find this useful!

Carita Ideal Hydration Lagoon Cream – I recently had a facial at Rudding Park Spa in Harrogate and the lady used this brand of skincare products. She gave me some mini samples to take away and I’ve absolutely fallen in love with this moisturiser. It has what I’d describe as a gel/jelly like consistency and is so refreshing and lightweight on the skin. It almost reminds me of an after sun and even has a similar pale green colouring. The only way I can describe it is super refreshing but also really moisturising. It contains noni extract, a Tahitian fruit known for its revitalising properties and helps to energise the skin and reinforce its natural defence system. The skin is firmer, more supple and radiant.
Charlotte Tilbury Supermodel Body – This product is an absolute GAME CHANGER. I get a lot of questions on Instagram about how I get my skin to look glowy in my photos and this is the secret. Yep, it’s not a natural glow, unfortunately, haha. This is basically a liquid highlight for the skin and when applied it creates such a beautiful golden glow. It’s not shimmery or sparkly which can look really unnatural but instead gives the skin a gorgeous metallic sheen when the light hits it. I literally plaster myself in this stuff before a night out or when I’m shooting photos for Instagram as it makes such a huge difference. Not the cheapest product out there but definitely the best I’ve tried! This mini bottle has lasted me months so I can only imagine how long the full size would last. I’m actually going to purchase the full size this week as I can no longer be without it!

Jo Malone Wood Sage & Sea Salt cologne – I’m a huge fan of Jo Malone fragrances and if they weren’t so expensive I’d probably wear a different one every day of the week (the dream!). I usually get a new bottle form family or Matt at Christmas as a treat and this year I got the Wood Sage & Sea Salt scent which I’ve totally fallen in love with. It’s a fresh but also woody/earthy scent making it perfect for both day or night. It’s one of those good all round scents! I’m useless at describing fragrance so go give it a sniff next time you’re passing a Jo Malone store.
OGX Damage Remedy + Coconut Miracle Oil – Hair oil is a staple in my hair care routine and I never blow dry my hair without slathering the ends in an oil first. As well as protecting the hair from heat and damage, I find it helps make it look ten times smoother and more shiny. I sometimes like to use it between washes too when my hair is starting to look a bit dull – it seems to bring it back to life!
Loving Tan Bronze Body Shimmer – this is my favourite tanning brand, hands down. I’ve been using their products for a year or so now and their dark mousse is just the best for a deep, golden glow. This body shimmer is a more recent discovery but I absolutely love it. It’s perfect when you want to top your tan up before a night out and also give your skin a bit of a glow/shimmer. I often get asked what tan I use on Instagram so here you go – this is my secret to a year round tan!
NARS Sheer Glow Foundation – I decided to buy a new bottle of this after not using it for a few months and I’ve realised just how much I love it. It gives great coverage, has a lovely finish (fairly matte but not drying) and is really long lasting. I’m currently using the shade Punjab which is a perfect match when I’m tanned (from the bottle unfortunately – I need a holiday and some natural glow asap!) and I use the shade Fiji for those ‘I can’t be bothered putting fake tan on’ paler days. Hehe! I also have combination skin and this works really well for me – I don’t find it too oily or drying so it’s a good all rounder I’d say.
Buxom Lip glosses – I can’t even tell you how much I love these glosses. If you want something that’s going to plump your lips, have amazing pigmentation and insane gloss – these are for you. They do feel a bit tingly on the lips because of the plumping action but it’s not an uncomfortable feeling at all. I have one of these in my bag at all times at the moment, I can’t be without them!
Cover FX Custom Blending brush – I got this brush in a goody bag at a Beauty Bay event and it’s become my go-to for applying liquid foundation. It has a really dense bristles (99,000 of them are packed in there apparently) and a slightly rounded top meaning it gets into all the nooks and crannies of your face and blends foundation like an absolute dream.

Charlotte Tilbury ‘First Love’ blush – When it comes to blush, I go through serious phases. I can go months without wearing it and then other times I don’t feel like my makeup routine is complete without it. I’ve been using this Charlotte Tilbury blush in the shade ‘ ‘ recently and I feel like it’s the perfect shade to add another dimension to my skin and gives my makeup a more polished and put together look – if that makes any sense? I think the main thing I dislike about blush is that it can often look very obvious that someone is wearing it – think bright pinks or corals. However, this shade is really lovely – it’s a pale brown toned pink shade and looks super natural on the skin. Definitely one to check out if you’re a bit scared of blush like me!
YSL ‘All Hours’ compact powder foundation – I’m not a big fan of powder foundations and would never use powder over a liquid, ever. I don’t think the coverage is comparable and you don’t get that same dewy glow that a liquid can provide. However, one thing that powder foundations are great for is setting liquid foundation. That may sound like a lotta foundation going on but trust me on this one. If you want your base to look extra flawless, powder foundation has a bit more coverage and longevity than your standard setting powder. I’ve been using this YSL one to set my foundation with  for nights out when I want a super full coverage look and it’s fabulous. As the name All Hours would suggest, it’s really long lasting and keeps my makeup in place the whole night as well as adding a smooth flawless finish.
I hope you enjoyed this little round up of my fave products guys! As I’m sure most of you guys know, I love a spa day. I’ve lost count of how many I’ve been to now but I recently found a new favourite and I obviously can’t wait to share it with you all. Say hello to Rudding Park, one of the most luxurious spas I’ve ever visited.
I first heard about Rudding Park when one of my best friends Lauren (find her blog here) announced it would be her wedding venue. I was lucky enough to be Lauren’s bridesmaid so I obviously did my research on the venue before her big day to which I discovered it was not only a beautiful wedding venue and hotel but also a state of the art and newly refurbished spa.
I visited for the first time on Lauren’s wedding day back in September and I was so impressed – the building itself is beautiful and once inside, it has the most cosy and welcoming atmosphere. However, as I was there for the wedding and bridesmaid duties were in full force, other than my head hitting the pillow to sleep, I didn’t get chance to do any exploring of the hotel or spa. With this being said, I felt another visit was essential. I returned a couple of weeks ago with my friend Debra for a girly night away and I can’t wait to tell you guys all about it.
We travelled from the Lake District to the spa which is based in Harrogate and the journey was so straightforward – I’ve never driven long distance before as my fiancé usually does all the driving so I was a little bit apprehensive about it but luckily, it was a really great drive and all went well. When we arrived, the staff were so welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us – they took our luggage straight from us and gave us all the information we’d need for our stay. We were then shown to our room which was one of their beautiful spa suites. As you can see from the photos, these rooms are very luxurious. From the huge king sized bed to the insane freestanding bath, sauna shower and Molton Brown toiletries, it’s the kind of room you don’t want to leave. I could have easily stayed in that room all day. I mean there’s even a tv in the wall above the bath and a ‘pillow menu’ – what more could a girl ask for?! I also really love the décor throughout the whole hotel – it has a nice mix of traditional and modern and has a really warm and homely atmosphere.
After enjoying a glass of prosecco in the room we decided to head for some lunch in one of Rudding Park’s two restaurants, The Clocktower. We fancied something fairly simple as we’d planned to have a fancy meal later that evening so we both opted for a sandwiches with chips and of course a G&T. It was delicious and there was such a nice atmosphere in the restaurants conservatory area – the perfect place to sit back and relax. We also had a star struck moment as whilst we were eating lunch, Michael Parkinson (yes, the TV legend Michael Parkinson) and his family were shown to a table opposite us. Debra and I looked at each other completely god smacked and contemplated asking for a photo but neither of us could pluck up the courage! However, it just goes to show what an amazing place Rudding Park is. If it’s good enough for Sir Michael Parkinson, it’s good enough for me.
After lunch, it was finally time to hit up the spa which I was super excited about. Rudding Park has everything you could possibly think of including a rooftop pool and hot tub, indoor pool, sauna, steam room, relaxation zones, a nap room, cinema, foot spas, ‘experience’ showers and so on. You name it and Rudding Park have probably got it. We were most excited for the rooftop pool after seeing photos of it online and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Despite it being the middle of February and freezing outside, you couldn’t feel it when you were in the heated pool – it was so nice and toasty! There was also mini jaccuzzi’s built in around one side of the pool which lots of people were taking full advantage of. It was the perfect area to just chill and watch the world go by.
As well as all the spa facilities, they also offer a huge range of treatments from your usual to a few more unusual treatments like body wraps and mud baths. I’m a big fan of facials so decided to book one for some additional pampering and relaxation time. I went for the Resurfacing Peel & Reveal facial which promised to leave me with ‘luminous and radiant’ skin. The treatment room was beautiful much like the rest of the spa and the kind of place you instantly felt relaxed. The treatment lasted for 50 minutes and it was so relaxing – I was a bit apprehensive as sometimes peel and exfoliating treatments can be a little on the uncomfortable side but this was still really relaxing and had a number of different steps including a deep cleanse, gel peel and some light treatment to ensure my skin was left glowing. I think I may have even drifted off at one point, oops. The products used were from a brand called Carita which isn’t one I’ve heard before but the lovely girl doing my treatment gave me some samples to try so I’m looking forward to trying them out at home.
After my pamper, I headed back to the spa and Debra and I decided it was time to relax in the pool for some girly chats with a drink in hand before getting ready for dinner. We decided to try a rhubarb gin recommended to us by the staff and it was delicious – they served them straight to the pool so there was no need to move a muscle. Pure bliss! It got to around 6pm and we had to literally drag ourselves away from the pool to go and get ready for our dinner reservation at 8pm. We could have stayed in there all night chatting away and drinking the pretty Pink G&T’s! When we got back to our room, I decide to run a bath as lets face it, when you’ve got a room with a bath that beautiful, it’d be rude not to, right? I had a nice soak (and Debra kindly took some photos for this post / Instagram – best friend points!) whilst listening to Radio One on the bathroom TV and surround sound system. Seriously guys, I need to replicate this bathroom at home as it was just insane!
When we were all spruced up we headed to the hotels ‘Horto’ restaurant which is situated by the spa and on the other side of the hotel to The Clocktower restaurant where we had our lunch. Both restaurants are totally different with The Clocktower being the more relaxed and ‘country pub’ style and Horto being the very modern fine dining option. I like that we got to experience both and think it’s great that they carter for everyone depending on your preference. We’d been booked in for the taster menu at Horto which was also accompanied by a wine tasting – something I’ve not done before but was really looking forward to. The meal consisted of 6 courses (there was also a 4 course option but the dishes were small so I’d definitely recommend six) and each course came with a different type of wine that complimented the food.

I have to be honest when I say I wasn’t overly keen on a couple of the courses on the set menu – that was nothing to do with the way they were cooked but more down to my own personal preference. I’m not a fan of scallops and no matter how many times I try them or how well they’re cooked, they’re just not for me. However, on the flip side, I absolutely loved a couple of the courses including the braised ox cheek and the beef – both of which were beautifully cooked and melted in your mouth. I guess that’s the beauty of a tasting menu – you get to try things you might not have typically ordered and even if there is something you aren’t keen on, you know you have plenty more courses coming your way! I was also really impressed by the wines that were paired with each dish and managed to drink most of them without adding lemonade (yes, I’m one of those people, don’t judge me!).
We felt quite sleepy after all the food and drinks with dinner (total grandma’s since we hit our late twenties let me tell you) but we managed to squeeze in one more G&T at the bar before heading back to our room to catch some zzz’s in that humongous (and exceptionally comfortable) king sized bed! The next day we decided we’d get up early to have breakfast so we could make full use of the spa again before check out. Breakfast was served in the Horto restaurant where we’d had dinner the night before and the options available were right up our street. We both opted for the poached eggs and avocado on toast (standard blogger brekkie) and then shared the pancakes for dessert – both of which were delicious, especially the pancakes which I could have easily ate all to myself! Yum!
We ate breakfast in our robes which was a slightly strange experience but amazing all the same – the hotel staff had made a point of telling us that they were more than happy for people to wander around and eat in their robes for maximum comfort so we took their advice and it was great. It also meant we could head straight to the spa from breakfast! We decided to do a bit more exploring after spending most of the first day in the outdoor pool and headed for the relaxation rooms. There’s so many different little areas you can sit in to relax – they even have a room with loungers and a sky that looks like stars which is perfect for a little nap area. I also loved the cinema room which has a huge swinging basket chair – again, the perfect place to chill out. The only problem is, it’s very easy to get a little bit too chilled. I felt so chilled by the time we left that I wasn’t quite sure I’d actually be able to drive my car, haha.
As you can probably tell by my enthusiasm throughout this post, I bloomin loved Rudding Park and am just gutted we couldn’t have stayed longer. It has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing and enjoyable break. Whether you go for a romantic getaway with your other half, with your mum (mothers day is approaching, just saying!) or with your bestie like I did, I can assure you you’ll have the most wonderful time. I just can’t fault it!
Make sure you check out their website here for more info on the facilities and prices!

A couple of weekends ago, my lovely fiancé and I had a cute date night in Manchester followed by a stay at one of my all time favourite hotels – King Street Townhouse. I first stayed at this hotel last year and completely fell in love with it so when the opportunity arose to stay there again, I couldn’t have been more excited. Despite living only 30 minutes away from Manchester city centre and spending a good majority of our time there, it’s one of those cities that you can always find an excuse to book a hotel for and have a full weekend stay. There’s always new restaurants and bars opening and something new to see or do. Not to mention the Christmas markets at this time of year which are literally round the corner from this hotel. Yay!

We were booked into one of the suites which was such a treat as last time I visited, I stayed in one of the standard double rooms. Don’t get me wrong, the standard rooms are amazing too but to have a whole suite was just total luxury and in my opinion, if you’re going to stay here, worth the extra cost. As you can see from the photos, the suite has an open plan style complete with its own living area and bedroom as well as a spacious bathroom fully equipped with wet room style shower and double sinks. My first thought when entering the room was ‘oh my gosh, that view’ as this particular room we stayed in has the most spectacular views across Manchester. We arrived for check in at 4 so the sun was just setting as the god into the room and pink skies and Manchester sky line was such a stunning view. I must have sat on the bed for a good hour just watching the sun go down which was so lovely and peaceful.

Another initial thought was ‘bath tub goals!’ – I mean, look at it! f you follow me on Instagram (@kayleighjcouture – if you don’t, come say hey!) I’m sure you’ll know that I appreciate a good bath (well, who doesn’t?!) so to see this insane freestanding tub sat at the end of our bed with views right across Manchester was amazing! The first thing I did after taking these photos was run the bath so I could have a relaxing pamper before dinner. I also ordered a G&T from room service which came so well presented and very quickly after ordering by a lovely suited and booted gentleman. Now that’s what I call good service! They’d also left us some gingerbread men, macaroons and a lovely welcome note – too cute!

As well as the amazing bath, the decor in the rest of the room is just as beautiful. You can tell that everything has been really well thought out and it has a lovely cosy feel to it. I particularly loved the tiles around the bath, the cool lampshade in the living area and the little mirrors above the bed. Interior done right. Talking of the bed – I just have to mention how comfortable it is because oh my goodness, it’s one of those beds that you just sink right into. Seriously, I put my head down on the pillow and practically disappeared it was so squishy. I basically need to find out which pillows they have and buy them for every bedroom in my house as the comfort was seriously real!

After a few more G&T room service deliveries and a soak in the bath, we got ready for dinner and headed out to a new Indian place that’s recently opened. The meal was okay but we weren’t overly impressed so I won’t go into too much detail about that, haha. After dinner we headed for some drinks and I posed in front of every Christmas tree I came across (typical blogger hehe) before heading back to King Street Townhouse for some Netflix in bed (is this a sign we’re getting old?!) and the best nights sleep in that divine bed.

The following morning we got up early and headed to the hotels rooftop infinity pool / hot tub. This is another of the hotels biggest selling points for me as it’s such a cool feature and not something you often find in UK hotels. When you think of an infinity pool you often think of exotic locations so for a Manchester based hotel to bring a bit of that holiday excitement to the UK is fabulous. Unfortunately I couldn’t get a good image of the pool to share as it was a super misty morning but if you want to have a look, a quick google will bring up loads of images. However, we did have a chill on their lounge beds in the little relaxation area just next to the pool as this also has insane views of Manchester – a lovely way to spend a Saturday morning.

After our trip to the pool, it was time to order breakfast. Breakfast is one of my favourite parts of staying at a hotel as it’s such a treat to get breakfast delivered to bed and I always end up ordering a couple of different things so I can have a real feast. I couldn’t decide between eggs & avo or pancakes as they’re both my ultimate fave breakfasts so I decided to order both alongside orange juice and a latte – perfect. They didn’t disappoint either and were scoffed within 10 minutes of them being delivered to the room. Haha!

We had some chill time after breakfast so I had another bath (got to make the most of that tub!) and then we spent some time getting ready before check out at 12pm. After we checked out and left our bags with reception, we headed into the tavern bar and restaurant for a festive afternoon tea. I personally love afternoon teas as I’m the kind of person that likes to have lots of different things to try and pick at. A buffet is my dream so an afternoon tea isn’t too far off, haha! The festive afternoon tea came with all the usual sandwiches, cakes and scones with small Christmassy twists such as Turkey & Stuffing as one of the sandwich fillers – delicious! They offer afternoon tea in the Tavern throughout the whole year and is something you can do without being a guest at the hotel so this is something I’d highly recommend checking out next time you’re in Manchester. It’s super cosy and cute in there and would make the perfect pit stop mid shopping spree!

Overall we had the most lovely stay at King Street Townhouse and I’d love to go back again in the future. It’s just an all round great hotel with everything you could need for a comfortable and fun stay.  You can check out their website here for more info on prices and how to book.

I hope you enjoyed this post guys. Do let me know if you’d like more hotel or spa break reviews in the future as it’s something I really enjoy doing! I have one coming up very soon about my trip to a fabulous spa in The Lake District so keep your eyes peeled for that.

This stay was complimentary however all opinions are my own.

I don’t know about you but when I think of luxury brands – the kind of luxury fairytales are made of, one of the first that pops to mind would be Tiffany & Co. I mean it’s featured in some of the most  iconic hollywood films (Sweet Home Alabama, I’m looking at you), associated with romantic proposals whereby unsuspecting ladies are presented with that famous blue box and of course, it’s known as being one of the best gifts a girl can receive. I mean, who doesn’t want to wake up on Christmas morning to find a little blue box sitting under their tree?!
Well, much like accessorising with your favourite Tiffany jewels, you can now accessorise in a slightly more affordable but equally as luxurious way with their brand new Eau De Parfum. Let’s face it, a spritz of a beautiful scent is the best way to finish off any outfit so what better way to do it than with Tiffany? The fact we can now get a piece of the magic for a fraction of the cost of their diamonds makes me a very happy lady. Who doesn’t want one of those blue boxes sitting proudly on their dressing table?! There’s just something so special about it, isn’t there?
In true Tiffany tradition and style, the bottle has been designed to resemble a diamond and of course, features the iconic blue branding around the neck. It also comes housed in one of famous blue boxes, meaning you get all the same luxurious presentation that you get with their jewellery. You could say it’s like having your very own super sized Tiffany diamond filled with a divine smelling scent. To summaries, the packaging is bloomin’ beautiful – it just screams luxury and class! Everything you’d expect from Tiffany of course.
Now if the packaging hasn’t already sold you, it’s time to talk about the scent itself. created by world-renowned master perfumer Daniela Andrier of Givaudan, it’s a vibrant and fresh scent for the modern female and encaptures the magic of New York – the home of Tiffany & Co. Vibrant top notes of vert de mandarin and the signature ingredient precious iris flower make for a truly feminine and sophisticated fragrance. It’s the kind you can wear both day or night – a real staple in any fragrance collection. It’s also pretty long lasting too and once settled on the skin it has warm nuances of patchouli and gentle musky notes.
It’s available to buy online here from Debenhams and is also available in all Debenhams stores nationwide! With a starting price of only £52 for 30ml it’s much cheaper than diamonds but certainly no less luxurious! The perfect gift for a special lady in your life this Christmas or as a luxurious treat to yourself because let’s face it, we all deserve a treat now and then.
