If you follow me on social, you may have seen that I recently headed to London for a lovely breakfast with one of my favourite skincare brands Aveeno®. The event was hosted at the super cute 26 Grains on Neal’s Yard – a part of London I’ve never visited before but one well worth checking out as it’s super pretty with colourful buildings on every corner. We were greeted by the lovely Aveeno® team and Alex Hely Hutchinson, founder of 26 Grains. Alex created two healthy but delicious recipes to go alongside Aveeno’s new products with the main ingredient being oats, as 26 Grains is famous for their range of oat/grain based dishes. Oats are also an ingredient in Aveeno’s skincare due to their many benefits for the skin including soothing sensitivity, restoring moisture, cleansing and protecting. With this being said, it makes perfect sense for Alex to partner with Aveeno® on this launch.

You may have read a post I wrote in collaboration with Aveeno® last year called ‘Inside & oat’(read it here if you missed it) which was all about the belief that healthy, beautiful skin is a reflection of your overall health and wellbeing and a big part of that is what we put inside our body, as well as the products we put on it. After all, great skin starts from the inside and what you eat plays a huge part in that. I know that if I eat too many pizzas or drink too much wine, my skin starts to pay for it. However, with a combination of healthy eating and Aveeno’s daily skincare products that contain natural and skin beneficial ingredients, you can nourish your skin from the inside and out and be well on your way to a beautiful glowing complexion.

With this being said, we were offered a choice of two breakfasts to enjoy at the event – both of which were healthy yet delicious, showing there’s no excuse to not eat foods that are good for our general wellbeing and of course, our skin! There was a yoghurt, oat, honey and apricot cake or oats with pepper, parmesan and olive oil to choose from and they were both fabulous. I usually go for savoury over sweet but the cake was too beautiful to ignore. As you can see from the photos, it looked amazing and it tasted even better. I can’t believe it was healthy – I definitely need to recreate this at home.

As I mentioned, the event was to launch some new additions to the Aveeno® range and oh my gosh, they have to be my favourite yet. I’m a big fan of all the products and have never tried one I haven’t liked but these are definitely my favourite so far. Aveeno® is all about creating products with ingredients that are proven to be beneficial for the skin and this new range is based around yogurt concentrate – an ingredient known to keep the skin nourished and hydrated and one that is perfect paired with oats – makes sense to mix them together right? I wasn’t aware of the benefits of yogurt in skincare before attending the event but Dr Shefali Rajopat, a consultant dermatologist, says “Yogurt contains a rich mix of powerful nutrients such as vitamin B12 and riboflavin, protein, calcium and Vitamin D.” Interesting, right?

I was kindly gifted some of the products to take home with me and I’ve been using them ever since. I’ve been trying the new Aveeno® Daily Moisturising Body Yogurt, Yogurt Body Wash and the Aveeno® Daily Moisturising After-Shower Mist and as I said, I’m in love. The yogurt-like texture of the products is perfect – it’s thick and creamy but also really light at the same time and sinks into the skin almost immediately. What I find with Aveeno® is that the products do exactly what they say on the bottle – they’re simple and straight to the point, and I like that. I’m not one for an overly complicated skincare routine and I know I can rely on these products to do exactly what you’d expect from them – moisturise my skin, leave it feeling soft and supple and provide a radiant healthy glow. I’ve been especially impressed by their new after-shower mist as I find this so easy to use after showering and it’s given me the push I need to moisturise my full body more regularly.

As well as having the same amazing ingredients as Aveeno’s other ranges and the addition of yogurt concentrate, these new products also have divine new scents – Apricot & Honey and Vanilla & Oats. I’m a big fan of sweet scents so both of these are right up my street and seriously, they smell good enough to eat. Thank goodness I had the cake to keep me going at the event or I might have been half tempted to dive right into them, haha. I also think they’re the perfect scents for Summer as they’re sweet but also really fresh and uplifting – perfect for an early morning boost.

I’m such a big fan of these new Aveeno® products and I know they’re going to be a staple in my daily routine for the foreseeable future. Are you a fan of Aveeno®? Do you like the sound of these new products? For more information visit aveeno.co.uk

Hey guys! So if you read my blog regularly, you’ll know that I was recently sent a box full of amazing healthy foods and skincare products from the brand AVEENO who challenged me to take on their Inside & Oat challenge for one week. The challenge they set me involved eating healthily, adding some daily exercise to my routine and using their products to nourish my skin. You can read more about it in my first post here but the aim of the challenge is to nourish my skin from both the inside and out to see what a week of changes can make.
Since giving the challenge a try, it’s time to report back with how I found it and the differences I felt from making some changes. If you follow me on social, you’ll probably know I’m already quite into leading a healthy lifestyle and do believe balance is key. I try to be good throughout the week and allow myself a few naughty treats on the weekends. I find that’s the best way for me to stay on track during the week – knowing I won’t feel guilty when I indulge at the weekend. With this being said, the prospect of following a healthy diet didn’t phase me in the slightest – I welcomed it with open arms and couldn’t wait to try out some of the recipes from the meal plan AVEENO sent with my hamper of goodies.

Now although eating healthily for one week isn’t going to make any major changes in terms of weight loss or a glowing complexion, I can definitely say that it makes me feel ten times better about myself and the biggest change for me is the psychological one – that great feeling of knowing I’m looking after my body can’t be beaten. I always feel really sluggish if I eat lots of bad food so eating good food definitely gives me lots more energy. As I said, changes to my skin from only a week of healthy eating are unlikely but I can see how my skin would hugely benefit if I were to continue nourishing my body with home cooked food and some amazing ingredients. I’ve popped some photos in this post of the Butternut Curry I made from the meal plan which was created by Natasha Corrett from Honestly Healthy. This was definitely one of my favourite recipes – it was so tasty and I didn’t miss the meat element one bit. It was actually quite refreshing to have a meat free meal and this is something I’ll definitely be making again. It didn’t even taste healthy as it was so full of flavour.

As well as following the heathy eating plan, I also added four of AVEENO’s fabulous skincare products to my daily routine. I’d always heard such amazing things about the brand but never tried their products out so I’m really pleased this challenge has introduced me to them.  I have to be honest, I’m pretty terrible when it comes to moisturising my body – it often feels like a chore so I don’t really bother, unless I’m on holiday when I slather on moisturiser like it’s going out of fashion. However, I know moisturising my body should be just as important as moisturising my face so this challenge has given me the kick I needed to start moisturising my body on a daily basis and I’ve actually really enjoyed it. I followed the tips from Dr Shefali’s skincare plan, especially the one about not having too many hot showers – who knew it could remove the natural oils from our skin?

The four products I’ve been using are the Aveeno Body Wash,  Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion, Aveeno Moisturisng Creamy Oil and the Aveeno Hand Cream all of which are from AVEENO’s daily moisturising rangeAll of the products contain oats (hence the challenge being named Inside & Oat) which have an array of skin benefits. They increase skin hydration, soothe, protect, cleanse and buffer whilst also being really gentle on sensitive skin.

I’ve been loving every single one of the products as they’re all so gentle but also so effective.  I love that none of them have strong fragrances which can sometimes irritate and disrupt the PH balance of the skin but they still have a really lovely fresh scent. I also feel like I’m doing my skin good by using them as they all contain naturally active ingredients which have been specially formulated to gently cleanse and moisturise dry, sensitive and irritated skin. My skin does get quite sensitive and can often react to new skincare products but I’ve had no issues whatsoever with these ones – they just make my skin feel silky smooth and radiant. What’s even better is that they’re all so affordable and are really accessible on the high street.

As I said, I love all of the products but my favourite of the four would have to be the Moisturising creamy oil as it blends into the skin effortlessly making the process of moisturising my whole body so quick and easy. It combines the benefits of an oil with the convenience of a cream and I really love that as it feels so much more hydrating that a normal body lotion but still has a lovely lightweight texture that sinks into the skin in a matter of seconds.

Overall I’d say I definitely felt the benefits of taking on this challenge and it’s something I’ll definitely be continuing with. I’ll be referring back to the recipes in the meal plan whenever I want to eat something I know is really good for me and I’ll of course continue to use the skincare products too. Daily exercise might not be totally realistic for me but I definitely feel better about myself after doing it so whenever I get chance, I’ll be trying to squeeze in a little home workout.

I’d love to hear some of your tips for leading a healthy lifestyle so let me know in the comments section below!

If you follow me on Twitter (@k_leexjx), I’m sure you’ve seen me tweeting about my new healthy eating plan and my attempt to shed a few pounds before my holiday in June. I wouldn’t say I have a lot of weigh to lose but the Christmas period and way too many meals out at the beginning of this year has resulted in me gaining half a stone and it’s beginning to show! When your jeans start feeling tight, you know it’s time to make a few healthy changes.
With this being said, I was very excited when skincare brand AVEENO got in touch to ask if I’d like to be involved in their ‘Inside & Oat’ challenge which involves following a healthy eating, exercise and skincare plan for one week. As someone who really enjoys cooking and trying new recipes out, I jumped at the chance to be involved. I’ve always heard good things about AVEENO’s products too so I’m looking forward to pampering my skin with them every day.

AVEENO say ‘we believe healthy, beautiful skin is a reflection of inner health and daily moisturisation. Wellbeing for skin is our main purpose, and our philosophy is that looking after your body on the inside, as well as the outside, is fundamental in achieving and maintaining healthy, beautiful skin every day’. With this being said, the purpose of this challenge is to see the difference a healthy lifestyle combined with their products makes to my skin and I’m going to report back with how I found the challenge and any differences I notice when the challenge is over. I’m hoping I enjoy the recipes and daily exercise and they’ll become part of my routine, even after the challenge is over.
As you can see from the images, AVEENO kindly sent me a hamper full of amazing goodies so I can get started on my new holistic lifestyle plan. I was so excited when this turned up at my door and can’t wait to start using everything and trying out all of the delicious sounding recipes which have been developed by alkaline chef Natasha Corrett of Honestly Healthy. All of the recipes are plant based and free from gluten, wheat, refined sugar and cow’s dairy so it’ll be really interesting to see what kind of affect that has on the way I feel. I’m particularly excited to use the cashew butter and quinoa as I hear so much about them and their health benefits but have never really incorporated them into my diet. There’s also some of the usual healthy suspects in there including oats, coconut oil and various spices to give the food lots of flavour. They’ve also given me a £20 Tesco voucher so I can go and buy the fresh produce I’ll need for the week such as sweet potato, avocado and fresh herbs. As you can see from the sample menu, everything sounds delicious.

AVEENO have also partnered with Dr Shefali Rajpopat, a consultant dermatologist who has developed a skincare routine for me to follow over the seven day challenge using the AVEENO product range. The products included are their daily moisturising lotion, moisturising creamy oil, body wash and hand cream. All of the products contain naturally active ingredients and are specially formulated to gently cleanse and moisturise dry, sensitive and irritated skin. I personally have really sensitive skin and am usually really lazy when it comes to moisturising my body so these products will be perfect to add into my routine. I’m particularly intrigued by the moisturising creamy oil and can’t wait to report back with my thoughts on the range in my next post.

I’m really excited to get started with this challenge and can’t wait to see the benefits a healthy lifestyle will have. I’ll be sure to take photos of the recipes I make and will be updating my social media with how I’m getting so make sure you’re following me if you’re interested in seeing how I get on!!

Do you like the sound of this plan? Is it something you’d try out yourself?
