Less than a decade ago, the face of Muslim women was that of an invisible onlooker in both fashion and beauty, with virtually no representation anywhere. Now, in the midst of a turbulent political climate, those days are officially in the past. With big retail brands and beauty companies forming partnerships pushing diversity, Muslim beauty gurus have become a viable and much-needed voice. These ladies are defining beauty on their terms while showcasing their faith like we’ve never seen before. Check out some of these gorgeous beauty bloggers and learn some of their tips and tricks!

IndigoStyle Vintage in BK

I'm a vintage girl. Always have been. There's something about finding gently-used gems that no one else will have at a fraction of the retail price that turns me on. So when Sheryl Roberts- a woman I've known for years on the commercial and TV circuit, she's shot a zillion TV commercials and ads so perhaps you've seen her face- opened a vintage boutique in Bedsty, Brooklyn, I knew one day I'd make the trip there. Well, it's the holidays so no better time than now to find holiday inspiration!  Here are a few fun looks that my bff/stylist Dani G., and I, put together. Hope you like!

Indigostyle Vintage owner Sheryl Roberts
Indigostyle Vintage was a Pop Up Shop for 4 years before Sheryl opened the boutique located at 401 Tompkins Ave. in Brooklyn, last April. She loves fashion and believes that it shouldn't have to cost a fortune. Amen to that!

If you love "fur" and leopard, this coat ($125) is your holiday show stopper! We belted it and paired it with these leather boots I got on sale at Macy's recently for just $29.99. You'll look and feel so good walking into that holiday party that you may not want to take this coat off! And why should you? Just wear something light underneath.

This 80's Cosby Show-inspired multi-colored fuzzy coat will bring color to those drab winter days ($125). The knitted clutch keeps the color poppin' ($50), as do the aqua skirt ($60), the peach sweatshirt, ($50), and the white leather boots (size 9) that complete this look ($50).

Jeffrey Campbell ($150 left) & Karl Lagerfield ($100 right)

Can we just take a moment to salivate over these shoes! Maybe, they're not the most practical, but when it comes to making a statement, these babies will do it every time! Watch out Santa, mama is coming through!

If you want something that feels festive, girly, and shows off a little leg, pair a short skirt like this gold one from American Apparel ($35), and a colorful jacket like this pink floral bolero jacket ($70), and throw on some black leather ankle boots like these ($50).

This skirt was so cute we had to do it twice! This time for a sportier look we added my own black leggings (after all, it's winter right?! Grab some from Old Navy), a black puffer vest ($65), Longchamp leopard heels ($75), this Blackbird Dillinger graffiti cross body purse ($195-$375), and this black Kangol hat ($35).

We hope you enjoyed these looks! Everything displayed in this post is available to buy (except for the leopard coat, which I believe got SOLD!). Thanks Sheryl, for allowing us to play in your boutique  and we'll be back for some more inspiration in the Spring! In the meantime, Happy Holiday Everyone!

What will you be rocking this holiday season?

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays, for obvious reasons. It’s the one day of the year when I can eat pretty much all my favorite foods in one sitting. I never get to have baked macaroni and cheese and lasagna, apple pie and cheesecake, sweet potatoes and shepherd’s pie. Yams and rice and casserole, oh my! Don’t even get me started on the leftovers!
As much as I love to eat, I always feel like I’ve gone up a size by the time dinner is over. Maybe it’s because I never dress accordingly, or maybe I actually do pack on some pounds. Either way, I always have to unbutton or unzip something.

With the changing of seasons comes an opportunity to reinvent ourselves! But it doesn't have to be costly or overly complicated. We can start where we are, using what we already have. That means sifting through our accessories and wardrobe to mix and match pieces to create looks that surprise and inspire even us! It helps to go through this process with a friend because we're already conditioned to see our clothes a certain way. This is what happened when my bff, Dani G., who also happens to be a stylist, came over and showed me that I have what it takes to be fun and fabulous this Fall! What do you have in your wardrobe?

For a look that's warm, stylish and utterly effortless, throw on a colorful wrap. If you don't have one, a throw blanket will do!

Use that same wrap over a sweat shirt, belt it, with a fitted pencil skirt and heels for a look that's sexy casual.

Bump up that bomber jacket vest with a vintage belt, bracelet bling, that same pencil skirt over black Old Navy leggings, and a French-inspired, vintage scarf!

For a look that's pure ease, throw on some chunky jewelry with a belt that cinches the waist, a headband, black leggings, and a pair of Manolo Blahniks! Eat your heart out Peg Bundy!

No need for makeup with this De La Cruz, Glycerin & Rose Water Skin Moisturizer that will have your skin glowing like Saint- Tropez in the Fall! Use it to pour or add a spray pump top to use it as a spray mist.

Here's the accessories Corner!

What pieces do you have in your closet that can inspire some fun Fall looks?

When one of my favourite brands PrettyLittleThing contacted me about working on a post with my blogger bae Victoria Hearn to celebrate National Friendship Day, I jumped at the chance. PLT is a brand both Victoria and I have shopped with for years so we couldn’t wait to style up some of our fave pieces whilst catching up at the same time. The idea behind the post is to celebrate friendship, let you guys know a bit more about me and Victoria and also show you how you and your bestie can slay together wearing PrettyLittleThing for any occasion. I hope you enjoy!

Victoria and I have only been friends since September of last year which is crazy to think about as it feels like we’ve known each other for years. If you follow us on social media, I’m sure you see photos of us together all the time and snapchats of us being silly - I mean, a friend isn’t a true friend if you can’t be weird with each other, right? We first met when we were both shortlisted for a Cosmo Blog Award and Victoria DM’d me on Instagram to see if I fancied meeting up before and going together. We’d both followed each other for ages so as soon as I saw her message, I said yes straight away. I hate attending events alone so I was so thankful to her for reaching out.

We met before the event and the rest is history. We’ve been pretty much inseparable ever since - not a day goes by that we don’t chat on whats app and we’ve already been away on two holidays together with plans for a third very soon. You know when you meet someone who you instantly click with and you feel like you can be 100% yourself around? That’s what happened with Victoria and I. If you’re a blogger yourself and have friends in the industry, you’ll know that it’s such a breath of fresh air to be able to do ‘blogger stuff’ with each other and not feel judged in the slightest. For instance, being a top poser for all those insta shots and not being judged or being able to sit together whilst on our phones updating social media and not feel awkward or like we’re being rude. When you have the same job, becoming friends is ten times easier as you instantly have a common ground and so much to discuss.

In terms of our style - I’d say Victoria and I are very similar and like a lot of the same things. There’s been so many times we’ve both worn something and the other one has been like ‘okay, I need this’. I think it’s really nice to have a friend with a similar sense of style - it means you can always share outfits and of course, been coordinated for all those selfies! As you can see from these photos, when picking our sassy PLT looks, we both went for pieces that compliment each other perfectly. We decided to style up a day time look, evening look and even some night wear to show you that no matter what the occasion, PrettyLittleThing have got you covered!

For our day time looks, we decided we'd centre it around key pieces of denim. Victoria and I both love wearing denim on a daily basis so it was a no brainer for us to pick some of our fave PLT denim pieces. Victoria went for this amazing Pink 'Au Revoir Felicia' slogan jacket and distressed denim skirt paired with a super cute v-neck stripe bodysuit and some rose gold sliders! This is a look I'd wear myself too - I love how fun and colourful it is. For my outfits, I decided to get this distressed oversized denim jacket to pair with some white high waisted denim shorts and this nude cropped tee with tie waist detailing. I absolutely love this top - it's one of those that can be easily dressed u I also went for a pair of studded white sliders

For the evening look, we just couldn't resist PrettyLittleThing's new Premium dress range - I mean, how beautiful are these dresses? They're slightly pricier than PLT's standard range but in my opinion, so worth the extra money. If you have a special occasion coming up and you want to wear something that will make you stand out and look a million dollars, these are 100% the dresses for you. I have my engagement party at the end of this month and I'm highly considering the dress I'm wearing as my outfit. It's just so beautiful - I love all the detailing. You can get Victoria's dress here and mine here. My rose gold heels are also available here - I love these as they go with so many different outfits.

Our final look is nightwear and we decided on these CUTE AF (literally) pyjamas! We both loved them as soon as we clocked them on the PrettyLittleThing website and I think these are so perfect if you and your girls are planning a girls night in and want to wear something cute for chilling and sleeping in! Who doesn't love wearing matching outfits with their friends?!

I hope you guys liked this post and all of our PLT picks - we had so much fun shooting it! We've also done a Q&A over on the PrettyLittleThing blog so make sure you go and have a read to find out more about us - you can click here to be taken straight to it.

I'd love to know how you became friend with your besties and if you have similar styles - let me know in the comments below. You can follow Victoria's blog here too.
