I adore when celebrities give us a glimpse of products they’re loving.  Some of them are very generous with sharing some of their #notsponsored favorites.  Karrueche Tran is a favorite on this blog because (1.) she’s really into her skin and beauty routine and (2.) she shares what snapshots of the products she loves.

The other day, she shared a simple image of a product with no caption.  As usual, I took a screen shot.  After taking the screenshot, I did something I’ve never done before.  I immediately went online and purchased without even researching any reviews.
Luckily for me, I found a sample size to try.  The product is not cheap so I wanted to test it out for minimal investment.  Also, the sample is perfect for travel.  A few days later, the mask arrived.  At this point, I still hadn’t researched reviews so I had no idea what to expect.

Farmacy’s Honey Potion behaves much differently than your typical honey mask.  I’ve masked with pure honey before and loved it! This face mask is nothing masking with honey alone.  When you visually inspect the mask, it has the look, texture, and thickness of golden honey.  The best way to describe the consistency is like a gooey (luxurious) balm.

But once the product touches the skin, magic starts to happen.  During application, the mask quickly transforms into a rich cream.  Moments later, you start to feel a warming sensation on your skin as the mask begins to activate.  You heard me right, this is a warming mask that stimulates the skin upon application.

Some of the hero ingredients include honey (of course), royal jelly, and echinacea which is rich in antioxidants.  They also source the honey from bees who pollinate echinacea plants.  Studies have found that echinacea is effective at reducing the appearance of wrinkles in as little as 1 month of use.   Basically, this mask is not only hydrating but has potent anti-aging benefits as well.

So far I’ve used the mask twice.  I’ll share my thoughts by first starting with the drawbacks.  Honey potion is marketed as a hydrating mask.  I’ll be honest with you, it’s not all that hydrating.  Honestly, using plain honey (or better yet, manuka honey) on my face produced superior hydration.  I’d describe this more as a nourishing mask.

Even though it’s didn’t deliver with regards to its promise to hydrate the skin, I still love this mask and here’s why.  With most masks, you apply then wait patiently and passively to finally rinse it off.  With Honey Potion, you are expected to actively participate in the masking experience by massaging the skin while you wait.  THIS IS THE PERFECT MASSAGE MASK.  Your fingers easily glide over the skin without feeling sticky.  The more you massage, you more you engage the warming sensation.  The warming sensation is so valuable because that means that blood flow is being directed to the face.

This precious blood flow to the face is worth its weight in gold.  I believe that younger skin receives more circulation to the face than mature skin.  It’s part of the reason why younger skin has a certain glow while mature skin appears flat and lackluster. With Honey Potion, you manually promote facial blood flow via massage while enjoying a little extra help from the product itself.

NO OTHER FACE MASK PRODUCT IN MY ARSENAL DOES THIS.

For that reason, I absolutely adore this mask and plan on investing in the full size. I also believe this is one of those products that provide cumulative benefits with consistent use.  I say this because that has my experience from only using Honey Potion two times.  Once I get the full size, I plan on using it regularly while executing a full facial massage routine.

Earlier this year I received a package of selected products from The Body Shop.  After inspecting the various items, I immediately reached for the charcoal mask.  As you know, I was quite smitten with this perfect dupe for GlamGlow.

The mud mask wasn’t the only item I loved.  There was a small tube of vitamin C sunscreen that peaked my interest.  After my first application, I closely inspected my skin and concluded that this was the ultimate winter sunscreen.
I’ve been waiting for the day when I could transition this antioxidant sunscreen into my daily routine.  When it’s hot out, I look for a sunscreen that doesn’t have too many bells & whistles.  I don’t want it to over hydrate, I don’t want it to leave a white cast, I don’t want it to do anything else than protect and maybe add a mattifying effect.

This sunscreen does the exact opposite.  It’s ultra hydrating, loaded with skin loving vitamin C and (best of all) it leaves my skin with the most amazing glow.    It’s exactly what we need in fall and winter.   The product description of this citrus scented sunscreen claims that it’ll brighten the skin as it protects.  I like the sound of that.  As you may know, a quality vitamin C serum is said to help diminish discoloration.  Not to mention that sunscreen also helps promote even toned skin.  Both of them combined could mean something wonderful for those of us with acne scar concerns.

I classify The Body Shop’s Glow Protection Lotion as one of those amazing products that provides multiple benefits.  It hydrates as well as any moisturizer while protecting the skin. This protection lotion leaves absolutely no white cast. But the selling point of Body Shop’s Glow Lotion is how it covers your skin with this amazing glow.  That’s exactly what we need when the air is dry.

The last thing I ever expected to provide a glow is my sunscreen.  But, aside from Missha’s Facial Mist, this is the probably the only other product I have that gives an “instant glow effect.”  The glow also lasts longer.  Sometimes I have to remind myself to put on sunscreen but this is a product I actually want to wear because of the way it enhances.  Not only does it help my skin look healthier on contact, it’s also improving brightness in the long run.

Years ago, I stumbled on a cult mask that made me fall instantly in love.  This mask was touted as a facial in a bottle by those who had the pleasure of trying it.  I adored this product because the mask seemed to handle multiple skin issues at once.

It exfoliated, absorbed oil, and even had ingredients that faded acne scars.  My only issue with it was the price.  For such a small amount, it required a pretty substantial investment.  Since then, I’ve kept my eyes and ears open for a suitable dupe.

I’ve tried a few but no other mask really seemed like a true replacement for GlamGlow until now.

This mask came to me by way of a gift from The Body Shop.  It came in a cute little box with several other items. The moment I noticed the small glass jar, I was elated.  The first thing that caught my eye were the words “Himalayan charcoal.”  As you may know, I’ve been adding a sprinkle of charcoal to my facial cleanser, toothpaste, etc.  A pre-mixed charcoal clay mask was like a dream come true.

A day later, I tried the mask for the first time.  I loved the consistency which reminds me of a homemade mask.  As soon as I applied the gray paste, I did a double take.  Suddenly, I was reminded of another clay mask that I love oh so much.

Just like GlamGlow, this purifying mask has a gritty texture that exfoliates and smooths the surface of the skin.  I also noticed the tiny green tea leaves blended into the mud (just like GlamGlow). And, as the mask dried, I felt the tingling stimulation from the tea tree and eucalyptus oil.

This Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask is an instant favorite. I’m a sucker for beauty products that take on multiple tasks.   This clay mask does just that.  It purifies, exfoliates and deep cleanses your pores while leaving the skin soft and invigorated.  Following my first experience, I immediately went online to research the price because I already made up my mind to purchase if I ever ran out.

I came to find out that it was only $28. That’s a fraction of the price of GlamGlow!  And, based on the size of the jar, you get more product as well.  I also prefer this packaging.  This mask is definitely going with me whenever I travel.  It’ll save me precious luggage space since it’s like having multiple products in one.

The Body Shop out did themselves with this one.
