No lederhosen here, but did you know the German tradition could also be great for your curls? Oktoberfest brings together food, fun, and beer--but beer can also help bring limp, dull curls back to life!
Your typical beer is made of yeast, water, barley, and hops--which contains natural oils and antioxidants essential for healthy hair. The maltose and sucrose sugars in beer help to add body and shine and reduce frizz, and B-vitamins help condition and repair dry, damaged curls. Before you toss back this season's pumpkin ale, try a beer rinse for softer, shinier, bouncier, defined hair.
You'll need 1 -2 bottles of non-alcoholic beer, depending on your length (O'Doul's is a popular brand).
- Open the bottle(s) and let it sit, until the beer is flat (up to 3 hours or overnight).
- Wash and condition your hair normally, then pour beer over small sections of hair--or pour beer into a spray bottle and saturate each section.
- Work through your stands to make sure hair is coated, then let it sit for 3-5 minutes before conditioning and rinsing out with cold water.
Don't believe me? Just watch.
