Physician's Formula has great face powders, so I was excited to try their new Super BB All-in-1 Beauty Balm Powder.  This product is part of their new Super BB line that also features a cream and concealer.

I don't get excited about face powders easily-- in my eyes they are one of the more "blah" products of the makeup world.  However, I am really impressed by this one.  It has a medium to full coverage and somehow makes my skin look fantastic.  The company claims this product "provides a smoothing effect that instantly diffuses imperfections, evens out skintone and minimizes the appearance of pores."  I experience all of these when using this powder.  It isn't very often that a product actually lives up to all of its claims!

This powder comes in two shades: Light/Medium and Medium/Dark.  I have the Light/Medium and find it is a good match for my complexion, though I do think only two color options is quite limited... surely they won't match everyone!

The powder has a slight sheen to its finish, which is hardly visible but must contribute to why it makes my skin look so great.  I've been lightly applying this on top of my Dr.Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm and the combination has perfect medium coverage.

This powder comes in white compact casing, and has a bottom compartment that includes a mirror and small brush.  I don't really ever use these sorts of things in compacts, but for people who use them on the go they can be handy.

Bonus: this product contains SPF 30!  Another reason I'm loving it for summer.  I find that this powder wears all day on my skin with no problems.  If you are looking to try a new face powder that has some coverage, I highly recommend this one! (My only complaint is that it is called a BB Powder... can we stop with the false BB naming already?!)

The Physician's Formula Super BB All-in-1 Beauty Balm Powder retails for $13.95 (8.3g) and can be found in most drugstores, as well as Drugstore.com!

What is your favorite drugstore face powder?

I was in Sephora the other day when my eye caught a display of Dr.Jart+ BB Creams.  I had never tried any products from this brand, and quickly looked up reviews on my phone to read the general beauty community consensus on them.  I found that this line was highly raved about, so I decided to give the Premium Beauty Balm a try.

For starters, I was thrilled to have found a true Asian BB cream in a store like Sephora.  Dr.Jart+ is a skincare brand based in Korea, developed by a dermatologist (and a team of 21 other dermatologists!) back in 2004.

The benefits of this beauty balm include firming moisture technology, anti-aging serum, SPF 45, and antioxidants.  It is supposed to even out the skin tone while brightening, firming, and hydrating.

This product is comes in a tube with a pump applicator on the end.

The consistency and finish of this product is similar to other ("real") BB creams I've tried.  It has a thick consistency that camouflages into the skin leaving a slightly dewy finish.  The color works perfectly on my complexion-- it looks a bit dark in the photo below swatched on the underside of my forearm, but my face is a shade darker, as I think is the case for most people.  Unfortunately, this product only comes in one color (as many Asian BB products do), so I would only recommend this for lighter complexions.

Here is a look at the Premium Beauty Balm on my skin.  I'm wearing no other makeup except for a touch of concealer under my eyes.  I am head over heels in love with this product!  It has been my go-to everyday "foundation" these days, as it is perfectly light for summer and contains SPF 45.  It evens out my complexion while staying invisible on my skin, and it even allows my summer freckles to show!

This product wears all day without fading, changing color, or getting oily anywhere on my face.  I cannot say enough good things about this product... I give it an A++.

One of my biggest frustrations in the makeup world these days is how frequently (and inaccurately) the term "BB" is slapped on products.  "BB" is a huge trend right now, so every company is trying to formulate a product they can use that name on to drive sales.  As a result, a lot of people have tried what they think are BB creams, when in fact they are tinted moisturizers in disguise.  I've spoken to friends who have told me they don't like BB creams, and when I ask what they've used, they name a BB product from a popular brand here in the US that actually isn't a BB cream at all.  Considering all of this, I'm thrilled that a real Asian BB cream is available in a popular cosmetics store here in the US!

The Dr.Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm retails for $39 (1.5 oz) and can be purchased through Sephora!

I love trying out new bronzers.  Next to blush and foundation-type products, bronzers are some of my favorite to play around with.  The bronzer I'm sharing today is the Jouer Mineral Powder Bronzer in Suntan.

The packaging claims that this product protects against free radicals with antioxidants of Green Tea Leaf Extract and Vitamins A & E.  This sounds fancy, but is one of those things that is hard to measure the actual effects of, so I can't really say I notice a huge difference because of it.  For those concerned, this product is oil free and paraben free.

Officially described as "matte honey bronze," I concur that Suntan is a warm, matte brown powder.  I prefer mostly matte bronzers, as I usually use them for contouring purposes.

This is the first Jouer powder I've ever tried, and I was really impressed with the formulation of Suntan.  It is super smooth, pigmented, and has zero crumble to it.  The color definitely leans warm, but I didn't find it too warm for my light complexion.  The color is on the light-medium end of the spectrum... I don't see it working much for anyone with a deeper complexion.

Here is a look at the bronzer on my complexion after doing some contouring.  I think the color works quite nicely!  I'm wearing my Dr. Jart Premium Beauty Balm underneath and a little concealer, but that is it for other makeup on my face.  I find that this powder wears all day.

Like other Jouer products, this bronzer has grooves in the side to lock into other products and form a palette effect.  I really like this about Jouer products.  However, when it comes to bronzer, I prefer to do a circular swirl motion with my brush, and with such a long skinny powder, I find myself doing more of a tap-tap-tap motion.

Overall, I'm really happy with this product, and definitely recommend it if you have a lighter complexion and like matte bronzers.

The Jouer Mineral Powder Bronzer retails for $28 (7g/0.25 oz) and is available in store at select Nordstrom locations, as well as Nordstrom online.
